"I first bought Madura tea when it hit the market as a health tea over 20 years ago and have been buying it ever since. We are avid tea drinkers and have impressed friends and family for many years with your fantastic product (the leaves are our favourite). Love everything about your tea and its creation."

Sustainable Tea Production
Madura is a pioneer of sustainable tea production in Australia, and is the benchmark in eco-sensitive tea production. Madura is committed to producing all-natural, superior tea as a key component of a healthy lifestyle, using innovative production techniques to minimise environmental impacts.
We are continually refining our processes to reduce our carbon footprint.
- Madura has planted more than 250,000 tea bushes to create a naturally occurring carbon sink that benefits the local and global community
- With several streams and springs running through the Estate and with four water reservoirs from which Madura can draw water when needed, Madura is conscious of the fauna that rely upon water quality being maintained. Samples of water at all entry and exit points to the Estate are routinely checked to ensure water quality is not impacted by our operations.
- Madura tea bags use oxygen-bleached filter paper
- Madura tea bags, tags and strings are sealed using heat instead of glue, aluminium or steel staples to reduce the potential for contamination and minimise health risks
- Madura Silk Infusers are made from vegetable starch compounds that are 100% biodegradable
- Madura shipping cartons are made from 99.85% recycled materials and are 100% recyclable
- Madura retail packets are 100% recyclable
- Waste cardboard packaging at Madura is shredded and mixed with tea wastes and soil to create mulch for new and existing tea plants
- All other recyclable waste materials are collected from the plantation for recycling
- Madura has fitted fuel savers to its diesel farm vehicles to cut greenhouse gas emissions
- Madura has won Australian National Packaging Covenant awards for its sustainable approach to packaging and waste minimisation
- Madura estate and imported teas are independently tested for pesticides, herbicides and bacterial contaminants.
- Madura has planted native rainforest trees and shrubs around the estate to curb erosion within the network of streams and encourage residency and breeding of native birds and animals, many of which have now made the estate their home.
