Madura Te Chai Leaf Tea

A unique crafted pure blend of spicy deliciousness

In many parts of the world, “chai” is simply another word for tea.

However, chai has become synonymous with a deliciously warming spicy brew of fragrant exotic aromas in our neck of the woods. Known widely for its delightful blend of herbs and spices that lend to a unique flavour, chai has made a statement on the world stage.

For clarity, we will use the term “chai tea” for the remainder of the blog.

Chai tea is generally made from a combination of black tea, ginger and other spices. The most popular spices including cardamom, cinnamon, fennel, black pepper and cloves, although star anise, coriander seeds and peppercorns are other well-liked options that can make an appearance.

Regular tea is brewed with water and may or may not have a dash of milk added after the steeping process. Whereas chai tea is traditionally brewed on a stovetop using both warm water and milk. It also tends to be sweetened to varying degrees. Either way, however you choose to brew your chai, it won’t be long before your home is alive with the delicious scent of spice.

In India, Chai is more than just a cup of tea to start the day, it’s a sentiment. We feel the same way, so we’ve made our Te Chai using the traditional spices of nutmeg, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, star anise, bay leaf and cloves to honour their philosophy. The result is a smooth and aromatic brew with an unforgettable taste. Try it with milk and honey and you’ll never buy another takeaway chai latte again – unless it’s a Madura chai!

Let it Brew

Brewing chai can be as simple as dropping a leaf infuser bag into a cup of hot water and slowly steeping it in your favourite teapot or mug. Or… When drawing from the traditional Indian method, there is something very soulful in slowly allowing your chai infusion to bubble away on the stovetop.

Each method delivers a unique flavour profile that can be tweaked to suit your preferences.

Milk It

The addition of milk offers a beautiful dimension to the classic chai tea.

Did you know that buffalo milk was traditionally used in Indian chai because the rich milk contrasts well with the sharp flavours of the spices?

Of course, using whole milk from cows is another way to go, but we believe in choice, so many other kinds of milk like goat, almond, soy, coconut and cashew are all up for grabs! The option is yours!

Hello Sweety

The traditional sweetener used in India is called Jaggery – an unrefined cane sugar that is super sweet! In the west, we tend to lean towards white and brown sugar or honey.

Did you know – Our chai teas are created with no added nasties or sugars – just deliciously pure tea and spices!
