Winter Spicy Porridge – Our Breakfast Of Choice!

Summer is over and winter is in!

Darker mornings can at times mean less of a desire to get out of bed early – it can also mean a strong desire for comfort food, but this doesn’t mean that breaky needs to be less nourishing during winter!

What could be better than enjoying a deliciously creamy bowl of chai infused porridge on a cold winter’s morning – ok maybe for the exception of a warming hot Madura brew – but a creamy winter porridge certainly comes in second!

Oats are a great nourishing and affordable super-food, infuse your milk of choice with chai and voila an incredibly delicious, fragrant supercharged breaky – in a matter of minutes!

On those days that you feel you are rushed for time, try making a Madura Te Chai infuse porridge that way you can steep, sip and eat your breaky all in one!



½ cup of Australian rolled oats – we have used @redtractorfoods
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup milk of choice – we have used @norcofreshmilk
1 tsp loose leaf Madura Chai Tea Leaves in a brewing tool (or 1 leaf infuser tea bag). Add more if you prefer a stronger chai infused porridge
Serve with blueberries, raw honey, raw or dry roasted almonds – the choice is really yours – let your tastebuds guide you.

To Make

In a small saucepan bring the milk and water to a simmer over a medium heat. Once simmering, remove from heat – add the chai tea and allow to infuse for 8 minutes. Return the saucepan to the heat and bring to simmer again. Remove the tea bags/leaves/brewing tool and transfer the mixture to a jug. Rinse the saucepan.

In the same saucepan, add the oats, and 3/4 of the milky tea mixture – allow to sit over a medium heat, once it begins to bubble, stir continuously and continue to stir until the oats have absorbed the liquid. Add the remaining milk mixture and extra water/milk if required.

Remove from heat when a desired consistency is reached and serve with a dash of extra milk !
