Iced Tea – Brew Your Own!
It is no secret that many store purchased iced teas are brimming with sugar, artificial sweeteners, colours and flavours – sadly putting them on par with soft drinks. A simple and inexpensive solution to avoid all those nasties – is to just steep, ice and sip! Iced tea is certainly one of our favourite summer drinks and the best thing about sipping an iced brew besides being refreshingly delicious – it is super easy and inexpensive to make. So get your creative juices flowing – you more than likely already have everything you need right in your trusty kitchen.
Refresh with Green Tea and Lemon Myrtle Iced Tea
4 cups of Madura Green and Lemon Myrtle brewed to packet instructions
2 cups of extra water
I piece of peeled ginger approx. 5 cm
Honey to taste (or your preferred sweetener)
1 lemon juiced
1 lime juiced
1 lime, cut into wedges, plus extra to serve
Mint to serve
Brew and prepare tea to packet instructions, whilst tea is brewing, add honey (sweetener) and ginger. Once cooled, remove ginger, add remaining water, lemon and lime juice – stir to combine and allow to chill for at least 2 hours. Once icy cold, add lime wedges and mint sprigs to jug, allow to stand for 1-2 minutes to infuse, adjust sweetening as necessary – serve in glasses with lots of ice.
Definitely one to be enjoyed on a late summer afternoon.
